What the audit is
An independent, SKU-level examination of where your FD&C reformulation stands. It is built for teams that have started the work, or that need to know what they are facing, and want a clear record of what was found.
We do not sell dyes, so the findings are not tied to any supplier’s product line.
How it runs
Each project is scoped to your SKUs, but the sequence stays the same:
- Scope: agree the SKUs, channels and markets in the audit.
- Review: go through formulas, process conditions and past trials with your team.
- Examine: assess each SKU against pH, heat, light, shelf life and label requirements.
- Report: hand-deliver the written findings, then walk your team through them.
Why it matters now
The Red No. 3 food deadline is January 15, 2027. California’s ban on Red 3, propylparaben, potassium bromate and brominated vegetable oil starts January 1, 2027. FDA’s tracker lists company commitments to remove the six remaining dyes by the end of 2027.
Each SKU can sit under different dates depending on where it sells. An audit puts them in one place.
Questions R&D teams ask
How much does an FD&C audit cost?
Each project is customized to the SKU and the process, starting at $5,000 per SKU. We confirm scope and price before any work begins.
What do we receive at the end?
A written audit report, hand-delivered, with findings by SKU and prioritized recommendations, followed by a review with your team.
Do we need a DyeConverter subscription?
No. The audit is a separate project and does not require a platform plan.
Is this a legal or safety opinion?
No. It is a technical and regulatory review to support your team’s decisions. Final label, legal and safety decisions stay with your qualified experts and counsel.
